We’re an independent music site and although we do tend to provide the latest news on international bands’ concerts in Malaysia and South East Asia more so than any other aspect, everything else we do is of equal importance to us. This website came about when we realized we knew of the various sources that provided such information (’tis a matter of knowing where to look coupled with our network) and it was also a void we were trying to fill, given that there are very few sites similar to ours in the local context. We thought, ‘why not share it with other concert goers?’, which was exactly what we did.

Malaysia however, is perennially prone to suffer from severe concert deprivation with its fellow neighbours receiving shows we all crave for but will never experience. This drought so to speak could go on for months on end and as a result, we needed to diversify and expand our focus which led us to create various other sections on the site to complete the MTGH experience.

So on top of receiving current and accurate tour dates, visitors are also treated to our exclusive band interviews with artists whom we are fans of and hope to promote within the region. The forum also enables all avid gig goers to congregate, get to know one another, share their experiences and this essentially forms a community of like-minded individuals. MTGH also hosts a photo gallery comprising images from various concerts, meet & greet sessions, ticket stubs and concert flyers both from our own personal collection and visitors’ submissions.

None of us are ever fond of being skipped over when bands tour the region, let alone the prospect of that occurring. The incredible lack of a proactive attitude and approach in some of our promoters prompted us to want to take matters into our own hands and change whatever we could within our ability. Ambitious? Maybe. But we certainly aren’t ones that would be contented to simply accept the status quo without putting up a fight and neither would you if you live for shows like we do.

Each of us care deeply about music and try to be involved with it as much as we possibly can. We run other websites, have been part of numerous street teams for years and also assist any organizations that require promotions (both online and on-ground) at any available opportunity.

We hope to bring as many music enthusiasts as possible within Malaysia via this site and have them be a part of the cause and get involved. It’s through MTGH that we are blessed with the opportunities received thus far which may otherwise never have been within reach had we opted to do this on our own. We figured that if we came together collectively, we stand a better chance at being heard and making the change we have always hoped for as we make a stronger unit.

More Than Good Hooks is a product of music that brought us together. It has been about the music fans from day one and always will be.
