Frequently Asked Questions

We hope to answer and address a couple of common questions we get asked on this page. If you’ve got a question that isn’t answered here, contact us and we will add it to the list.

GENERAL
Where are you based at?
In the neighbouring suburbs of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Do you make any money from the website?
No. MTGH is non-profit and we have never received a single cent from running the site. On the contrary, costs have been incurred instead. We do this because we are passionate about music, as cliché and trite as it sounds.

Where do you get all the information from?
For the most part, we take the effort to search for them from various sources with the exception of several occasions when people would send it in and alert us about them. Up to this point though, it has very much been done ourselves. This of course can be time consuming every now and then but it’s definitely worth the trouble for, just be able to share it with others.

How do I go about purchasing tickets?
We will provide the link(s) in our news posts but many a time those that are listed on the Tour Dates section which never made the headlines (main page) are not stated. It is suggested that you Google the concert you intend to attend or alternatively depending on the country it is held in, to check the regular ticketing agents/promoters:

Malaysia: Ticketpro, TicketCharge, Axcess
Singapore: Sistic, Gatecrash, Tickets.com
Philippines: TicketWorld, TicketNet
Thailand: ThaiTicketmajor/ThaiTicketmaster
Indonesia: JAVA Musikindo, Nepathya, Solucite, Deep Insight, JF-Pro

That said however, feel free to hit us up and we shall do our best to direct you to the relevant sites should you still require further information.

I found some information on your site which I’d like to post on mine/my blog/profile/etc.
You are more than welcome to, but under one condition – please credit More Than Good Hooks and link us when doing so. It’s only fair, as we took time to locate the information you are after.

Can I work for the site/be a part of the team/are you recruiting members?
First of all, thank you. Words cannot express how grateful we are that you have shown an interest in what we do and in wanting to be more involved.

It’s interesting when we get asked this every now and then especially since we’re such a small site but at this point in time, we aren’t recruiting. The three of us have invested plenty of hours and put in a ton of effort into the site from the very beginning. More than anything, we don’t intend to just take in anyone without getting to know them well enough (both as a person and as a friend) and in being able to come together as a team because MTGH is worked on on a daily basis. After all, the site was built on friendship – we were friends first before the site even came into the picture (read more about the site’s history).

That said however, you can still be a part of the site without officially being one of the staff by contributing news, photos, artistic assistance (banners, buttons, etc), submitting reviews and anything else pertinent. Just get in touch! We acknowledge every e-mail and submission received and credit you for them and those who have contacted us before would certainly be able to vouch for that. Additionally, it is also a great way for you to showcase any talent you may have as your work is being viewed by all of our visitors!

Join the forum! By interacting with us and other users, it allows us to get a sense of your personality and areas in which you may be able to contribute in. We are then more likely to keep you in mind as a possible candidate to be considered for future open positions when the time comes to hire new staff. Vacancies will be posted on the main page of the website and on all other platforms we are on.

How can I help spread the word about More Than Good Hooks?
Plenty of ways! These are just a couple of suggestions, use your creativity and imagination to help us out in any way possible.

Word of mouth
Tell your friends and family about us! If they love music, discovering/suggesting bands, attending concerts and meeting like-minded individuals then they certainly have come to the right place.

Networking sites (MySpace, Friendster, Facebook, YouTube etc)
Help us by posting bulletins periodically about the site, its contents (e.g. exclusive interviews, concert news) and what it has to offer. You may also resort to placing banners/buttons on your profiles and have them link back to www.morethangoodhooks.com.

Instant messaging (MSN, Yahoo!, AIM, etc.)
Use an MTGH buddy icon/avatar/profile picture on your account or insert our link in your nickname!

Can I suggest videos for VOTW / songs for the radio playlist?
Yes you can! We’re all about participation and the site is at its best when you get involved. You’re free to contact us at morethangoodhooks@gmail.com and let us know your suggestions – we’ll definitely do our best to accommodate them.

We need you to help publicize this/our event on your site.
Our focus tends to gravitate towards concerts and events by international bands but ever so often we do entertain such requests by local companies. If you think your event deserves to be mentioned on our site, kindly e-mail us at morethangoodhooks@gmail.com with full details such as date, venue, event, cost, and bands/artists/activities. Should there be web banners and a website for our visitors to check out and receive more information from, please include those as well, as it enables us to publish the information immediately.

BANDS
