About More Than Good Hooks

More Than Good Hooks is a reliable source of news for avid gig-goers in Southeast Asia, providing the latest information on international concerts in the region since its launch in June 2008.

The site was founded after two strangers met and became friends on the Simple Plan Invasion Crew message board in 2004.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where are you from?

We are based outside of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

What do you do?

At the forefront, we post information on upcoming international concerts in SEA. Following that, we publicize them through our socials (Twitter and Facebook) and photograph and / or review these shows where possible as part of our ongoing initiative to document the thriving live music scene.

Do you earn any money from the website?

No, we don’t. MTGH remains an independent, ad-free, and not-for-profit site to this day. All costs to run the website have been paid for entirely from our own pockets, because it has never been a goal for us to make a profit. It is our little way of giving back to the community.

However, if you would like to make a donation to help cover some of our costs and expenses, please drop us a line.

Can I write or photograph for the website?

We are always on the look out for individuals who are committed and passionate about what they do to join the team although we don’t hire new contributors often. If you feel you would be a good fit, send us an application! Let us know what you’d like to help with.

I’m a concert promoter/from a record label. Can you post about our event on your website/socials?

Send us an e-mail. Please provide us with full details such as the date, venue, cost, bands/artists, and include any promo material available.

We’ll get it up as soon as we can.

I’m a singer/artist/musician/in a band. Can you help promote our music?

Our focus is on listing and covering concerts, therefore we generally do not have dedicated posts for music promotions. At most, we would be able to feature your music video in our Featured Video section. If you’re okay with that, then please send us an e-mail.

We would like to offer our services (catering/security/production/lighting, etc) for an upcoming event listed on your site.

Sorry, but we are not an events organizer. Please contact the respective concert promoter for the specific show/festival which you would like to offer your services for, we have their website or Facebook linked in each news post.

If you are unable to locate the information you’re looking for, please contact us so we can help you.

I’m the editor/writer for a publication/newspaper/magazine/website and we would like to use some of your images for our review/article.

PleaseĀ send us an e-mail with your enquiry, no images can be used or reproduced without permission.
