American Japanese singer-songwriter Marié Digby graced the sunny little island of Singapore this October 18 at The Esplanade Concert Hall, wowing the crowd with her soothing vocals and bubbly personality. Since performing in Singapore to a full-house crowd at The Arena in 2009, Digby’s music has matured to include various music genres ranging from pop to folk.

Taking the stage in a sparkly white knee-length dress, Digby was gracious in greeting the crowd—acknowledging individual fans as she opened the concert with “My Great Mistake”—an upbeat and catchy song that wasn’t included in any of her albums. Despite that, her fans were well equipped as they sang along, bopping to the beat.

Ballades like “Beauty in Walking Away” and “Sleeping Next to You” showcased emotive lyrics and poignant vocals that captivated the audience—all eyes were on this talented 29 year old. Also included in her concert was her acoustic rendition of Rhianna’s ever popular hit single Umbrella—the song that found her international fame via YouTube, garnering over 100 millions views.

Needless to say, hit singles “Stupid for You” and Say it Again” from her first album Unfold were crowd pleasers while the most memorable performance of the night went to “Voice on the Radio” and “I Do”—showcasing strong emotions that had everyone transfixed.
