Baybeats 2009 Line Up – Anberlin, Calerway

Singapore’s annual (free) festival Baybeats (at the Esplanade) returns for another year, making this its eighth installment. Their past line ups have been nothing short of impressive, with bands like Blindside, Copeland and renowned Ohio artist Derek Hess making appearances in the years before.

2009’s is also set to be stellar with Anberlin (US), Calerway (AU) and Chris Collingwood (Fountains Of Wayne) on the line up in addition to the local and regional bands who will also be performing over the 3 days.

Phoenix Live In Indonesia

One of the most talked about bands, the alt rock French quartet named Phoenix is set to perform in Jakarta this August to promote their latest album, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. It is their current sole SEA tour date prior to their Australian tour and festival stints in Japan and Europe. They were one of the more recent additions in our list of bands in the Rumours page and we couldn’t be more pleased for our fellow neighbours! No news as of yet on whether there will be more SEA dates scheduled for this tour, but we will keep you posted.

Ratatat Live In Malaysia & Vietnam

Mike Stroud and Evan Mast, the duo better known as the electronic outfit Ratatat from NYC will be performing their inaugural shows in Southeast Asia this May. English deathcore band Bring Me The Horizon on UK indie label Visible Noise is set to perform in Jakarta, Indonesia this May! Be sure to catch them live on their first ever South East Asian tour.

Jakarta International Java Soulnation Festival 2009

Mew Live In Bandung, Indonesia

The popular Danish band Mew many know for songs such as “Am I Wry? No”, “Special” and “The Zookeepers Boy” will be performing in Indonesia this August prior to their appearance at the Summer Sonic Festival in Japan. It is uncertain at this point whether more Southeast Asian dates will be added but for now these are the details on their upcoming Indonesian concert.

12/05: According to our sources, the concert is currently unconfirmed but the promoter is still in talks and in negotiations with the band’s agency and management. We have our fingers crossed it will be successful and for our friends in Indonesia to witness the band live.

22/05: We have been receiving several inquiries on this concert of late so here’s the lowdown for those keen on seeing the band in Bandung. As stated in an earlier update, the gig is unconfirmed. The indie promoter is still working on obtaining funds from an investor and the final outcome should be made known on or around Wednesday, the 27th. Be sure to check back then for the update!

08/06: Malaysians/Singaporeans intending to fly over and requesting ticketing information – there has been none made known so far, unfortunately. We have contacted the promoter and are awaiting a response, the moment we are informed of them you can be sure we will be posting it here.
