It’s been a while since Singapore had a metal act and last night, we were lucky enough that we were part of Lamb Of God’s Wrath World Tour. Metal junkies from all over Asia like Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore unite to catch the quintet from Richmond, Virginia, to perform at D’Marquee.
Mostly clad in black tee shirts and tight jeans, the crowd went wild and cheered when the lights are dimmed and a few seconds later their metal heroes take the stage and kicked start the night with The Passing and In Your Words. The fans bounced and bobbed about, fists in the air, their bodies lost in the pounding music. Randy Blythe surprised us with his deep growling & shrill screaming, which sounds just as good on records.
The good thing about the gig was that there were a lot of interactions between Randy & the crowd, half the time pointing his mic out to the crowd and asked them to sing along with him. The fans gave support as the band played “Ruined” which they dedicated to their friend who recently passed on. However, the unfortunate news doesn’t stop the band from playing their head banging tunes like “Dead Seeds”, “Laid To Rest” and “Contractor”, which the heavy riffs & the fast double paddling made the crowd go mental.
The band managed to play all 16 songs from their set list within the 2 hour show, with non stop moshing from the crowd. They ended off the night with “Redneck” and “Black Label” where the crowd slowly took a few steps back to form a huge circle pit & of course, the highly anticipated Wall of Death that the metal heads have been looking forward to.
The fans left with fists in the air, fully covered in their own pool of sweat which proves that Lamb Of God gave them the best 2 hours of their lives.
