Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy will also perform in Malaysia this April, making it their second SEA date on this tour of the region. The quintet already have a confirmed show in the Philippines at Pulp Summer Slam XII : The Apostles on the 28th. Concert details as follows:

Japanese American guitarist and singer-songwriter Kina Grannis is bringing her ‘In Your Arms’ tour to Asia and will perform in Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore this March. Grannis’ video “Message From Your Heart” won the Doritios Crash the Super Bowl contest, subsequently landing herself a contract with Interscope Records. Concert details as follows:

Californian rock outfit Avenged Sevenfold will perform in Malaysia this April, their first visit to the region since 2008. The band had released their fifth studio record titled Nightmare in July 2010. Concert details as follows:

Scottish DJ, singer-songwriter, and record producer Calvin Harris will tour Southeast Asia in February, performing shows in Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. His recent collaboration with Barbadian singer Rihanna on the track “We Found Love” gave him his first number one single. Event details as follows:

For almost a decade now, One Buck Short (OBS) has consistently made waves in the national front and you would find yourself rocking out to OBS when they open for various international acts (eg: All-American Rejects, and more recently The Used at Rockaway Fest 2011). This time round, the boys (Rahul, Mooky and Imran) have produced a concept album of sorts – depicting the story of leaving one’s hometown for the city and upon returning a few years down the road, find the “kampung” all shiny and new. An album that has been long in the making, Kampong Glam is OBS’ first attempt in singing an album entirely in our national tongue.

Performing three songs for the press and sneaking in a music video of Carilah Duit, the album sounds solid both live and on the record. There are even distinct layers of violin coming in to songs such as the clever cover of Pok Pok Bujang Lapuk courtesy of Michelle Lai. If you’re thinking of introducing Bahasa Malaysia to a music enthusiast abroad, go no further than this album that would surely impress.
